Acubetter Acupuncture is in the Mind-Body medical center, located in upper west side of Manhattan, by the west side of Central Park. Our office is run by Dr. Shuang Huo, who is a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.), with the privilege to prescribe Chinese herbs. She is also a licensed Oriental Medicine doctor (O.M.D.).
Dr. Huo had studied acupuncture for seven years in Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China, where she got both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees of Acupuncture. After her graduation, she had been an acupuncturist and oriental medicine doctor in the affiliated hospital of the University for four years, where her specialties were Irritable Bowel Syndrome, pain management, Premenstrual Syndrome , stress related symptoms and Bell's Palsy. In 1998, she was selected by Red Cross China to help direct and build the local medical service in Yilong, a remote county near Tibet.
As it is well known, Acupuncture has a very long history in China. Thereby, there are many practice styles. Thanks to Dr. Huo's profound language skill of Ancient Chinese, she is known for using orthodox acupuncture formulas, especially those from Song and Ming dynasties(960-1644 AD). Dr. Huo treats herself not only as an acupuncture practitioner, but also a transmitter of oriental wisdom about human bodies.
